HERITAGE

About

A commemoration of all African people killed from the ills: Slavery, Colonialism and Modern oppression (Mo).

aFREEmember week also recognises individual figures and groups who rose against these 3 chains of bondage.

The week is celebrated across the diaspora, through parties, festivals and old African customs such as; telling tales by the fire, family dining through a shared bowl and the wearing of a badge with an African map, known as the 'black badge' because of its colour and relevance to the people of the continent.

'The struggles and legacy of our forefathers must be remembered at each moment that we enjoy a piece of freedom.'
